Having a "fair few" cruises under my belt, I would recommend a cabin on 2nd or 3rd deck in the middle of the ship. The higher the deck the more sway you get. Try and avoid a cabin at the bow or stern of the ship. Weather should be OK in October. A wee "goldie" before bed time helps. Have a nice holiday.
