I'd say, first of all decide what type of cruise you want - do you want ones that have formal evenings and set dining or something more casual? That will help you rule some out. Destination is important to - go for an intenary that really appeals to you - do you fancy something where the ports of call are resorts or would you prefer cities. Also do you want a smaller ship with less passengers, medium sized or one of the newer really big ones. Most cruises have a pretty mixed aged range but some tend to have predominantly youner people and others the reverse.I'd suggest trying a week to start with. The med is quite good for a first cruise, you could either do the eastern or western med. Once you have a clearer idea what you want and also what you don't want, websites such as this one will help you find the cruise that is right for you. Regardless of what you decide, i hope you have a fantastic experience. just about everyone I know that has tried cruising for the first time has ended up getting "the bug" for cruising and cant wait to go bac.
