Cambria, Do you work for Cunard? Only kidding, I think you have summed up exactly what cruising is or should be about. There is so much that you can pack into a couple of weeks holiday, you are indeed spoilt for choice, both on-board the ship, and also in the various ports of call. We too were on the same cruise as yourselves, and although we did different things both on the ship and in the ports to yourselves, we too enjoyed the cruise and the opportunity to get some winter sunshine. We had booked a short follow-on cruise aboard the Celebrity Constellation from Fort Lauderdale, and even though we enjoyed both the ship and the overall cruise, it was noticeable how the all round standards on the Queen Victoria were much higher.

We were on the same cruise and loved it, particularly the lectures and the usual excellent service. We decided to "Self disembark" and were through US customs in about 90 minutes. Those using Cunard's system were taking up to 5 hours to get ashore. We came unstuck when we wanted to call our transfer taxi, as our mobile did not work and there were no pay phones, but a helpful security lady let us use her phone. Our Taylor Made package (by cruise.com) was 2 days at the Red South Beach Hotel. The hotel was fine and we were surprised to get a bacon and egg breakfast included. It was, however, decorated like a Spanish Bordello (not that I have ever been in one) and lit up red at night !! Our flight home was by Delta with a transfer at Atlanta. The Miami plane was late so we had a sprint to make our connection, but the Delta staff were very relaxed and helpful. We found the flight quite good, with more legroom than BA and Delta managed to make sure that our luggage arrived at Heathrow with us. The only negative was that Delta served the worst tea I have ever tasted (even by American standards), made worse by "Coffee Whitener". Although not a coffee drinker normally, I converted to their Starbucks coffee. We were dubious about trying Cunard, but this was our third trip on the Victoria and we will be back again if the price is right. We like the atmosphere, wonderful fellow passenger, the lectures and the friendly service.

Interesting to see the drinks prices on Victoria. It seems that they charge less than on QM2 where we couldn't find a wine for less than $40!

Looks as though the price of drinks have gone up despite the budget!!?? But no more than a good hotel in fact cheaper! Just one point as we found last year priority boarding has gone no matter how great and good you are (and we are so) as "equality" is hitting Cunard Comrade. They will be letting the riff raff up into grills next! (I am joking) As our next trip is to St. Petersburg there may be a revolution where Grills is attacked and we are all sent to the Gulag. A Good review.
